Not many of us can say that we’ve had a passion that has lasted our entire lives. A girl might dream about becoming a princess or a president, but eventually, she’ll settle on more realistic goals. But for me, for long as I can remember, there’s never been anything but music.

Maybe it started when my grandpa used to play doo-wop and I would toddle around at his feet, or maybe it was when I realized just how much fun it was to perform for my parents and their friends. But no matter how it started, once I was bitten by the music bug, nothing has been the same.

My professional career first took shape when I was 11 and I started performing at any event, fair or show in the Pittsburgh area that would have me. I looked at those early experiences as a chance to sharpen my craft and build my confidence, and all that hard work paid off. Over the next few years, I was given the chance to open for a number of national acts, and I even got to sing the Star Spangled Banner for President Bush during his inauguration.

There’s something about getting up in front of a group of strangers and telling your own stories, sharing your own thoughts and dreams and, sometimes, disappointments . . . it creates a sense of intimacy unlike anything I had ever felt before on stage. The connection you form with people, the way you can see total strangers relate to the things that make you you, well, it’s hard to describe.

That’s why I’m putting out “Listen” now. It’s my first EP, and it’s all me, from the first song to the last. I hope you’ll spend some time getting to know what I’m all about, and I hope you see a little bit of yourself in the stories I’m sharing.
