Wake Hollywood

ARTIST With influences ranging from The Cure to Motley Crue, to Radiohead, Wake Hollywood is striving to make their own sound. The band's new take on rock music has the energetic beats and the pop edge to make fans break out their dancing shoes and come crawling back for more. Working with Cleveland based producer Bryan Patrick (Between Home and Serenity, Cherry Monroe), the group's songs shaped up quickly as alternative rock and roll tunes with a hints of dance and electronica. "We just want to be the highest energy, in your face band out there, without being the heaviest," says guitarist Kyle Wendling. Wake Hollywood formed in late 2005 in Dover, Ohio with the simple goal of creating something new and unique. There was an instant positive reaction to the band, which gave them the confidence to pursue music as a career. Even though all the members are in their early 20's, they have already proven themselves as worthy musicians. After a successful 2006 east coast tour, the band began work on their highly anticipated debut EP. While the majority of their peers are just writing about heartache over failed relationships, Wake Hollywood draws from all aspects of life for their songs and lyrics. During the writing process for the new album, the songs were found to be taking on a life of their own and telling a story. "When I began to write, I realized that the songs told the story of a boy becoming a man. I definitely took from personal experiences on this album," says singer Evan McKeever. The topics range from intimacy and abandonment to fear and nightmares. The band is confident that the personal touch they gave each song shines through to their fans, allowing each person to relate their own experiences to the overall album. Wake Hollywood self-released the Start the Show EP in early 2007 and followed it up with 3 successful self-booked tours. 1,500 copies have been sold so far, putting it in its second pressing. The band is now currently writing their full length record, and selling out shows all over Ohio. Wake Hollywood is poised for success and will not stop until they take over the hearts and mp3 players of people all over the world. And 2008 is just the year to start the guys on their way. With a soon to be titled debut slated for a late summer release and an upcoming tour in support, fans and critics alike better get ready. Wake Hollywood is just getting started in their ascent to stardom and there are no signs of the guys stopping anytime soon.
